Range of Motion Exercise #2

Here's another simple range of motion exercise we learned at physical therapy that helps increase Kellyn's range of motion towards her right side.  Its very common to have limited range of motion to one side with torticollis.  Please note that these exercises are for her limited range of motion of head towards the right side.  Both a video tutorial and written step-by-step instructions are included for your convenience.

Step-by-Step Written Instructions:

1.  Have baby lie on floor on her back and place an interesting toy to her right side.

Take advantage of this torticollis exercise before baby gets too mobile,
as it's much harder to do as mobility increases.

2.  Make sure to gently hold down left shoulder so that it doesn't turn towards the right.  The baby may try to turn left shoulder to compensate for her neck's limited range of motion to her right.

3.  Hold this position for 30 seconds.

Note: Babies with left torticollis and limited range of motion to their left side would do this exercise looking towards their left side.  If you are looking for an alternative of this range of motion exercise, check out this other variation.
